Dear Friends and Supporters,
As you are all aware, our rugby season was cut short due to the corona virus pandemic. We are all feeling the effects of the pandemic in our own way and I'm sure that we are all looking forward to the return of the sport that we love.
The current restrictions around social distancing and mass gatherings will have a massive impact on our fundraising efforts. The split the bucket collection is only operating on line and has no entries from pubs and shops around town. The 3 key fundraising activities that the club runs during the summer months (golf classic, tag festival and night at the races) will also likely be cancelled. As a result the club will be suffering a major shortfall in income for the coming year.
The club has ambitious plans for all ages this year but without sufficient funding in place, it will be very difficult to proceed. Funds are needed for the upkeep of club facilities, payment of rent and replacement of equipment.
We are acutely aware that many people have suffered financial losses in the past months and we have not taken the decision to ask for your support lightly.
We are all looking forward to the resumption of rugby in the months ahead and thank you for your support.
